League: German Bundesliga
Schalke – Hertha Berlin
Pick: Schalke Double Chance (Win or Draw)

REASON FOR THIS FREE TIP:

  • Schalke have lost eight of their last ten Bundesliga games.
  • Schalke have scored a total of just one goal in their last six home games.
  • Hertha have drawn four of their last six Bundesliga contests.
  • Hertha have won in Gelsenkirchen only once in the last 15 years, losing 12 times during that period.

Schedule could catch up with busy Berlin

Hertha have given their survival hopes a massive boost with three good results in the space of six days following their return to action from a two-week quarantine period.

But they could run out of gas in Gelsenkirchen where Schalke halted a run of six without a win by beating Augsburg last time out.

Hertha’s away record since the winter break shows no victories and very few goals, so the short price on the away win looks unattractive.

Instead, take the hosts to avoid defeat in the Double Chance market, where Schalke can take advantage of any weary legs in the visitors’ ranks.

Die Königsblauen took a shock 2-0 lead away at Hoffenheim last weekend and had a good chance to make it three when Amine Harit could not convert.

Familiar defensive cracks opened up in the second half when an inability to stay tight at the back and some heads noticeably going down was ruthlessly punished by the hosts.

Benjamin Stambouli, Nabil Bentaleb and Mehmet-Can Aydin are still out for this one with youngsters Florian Flick and Can Bozdogan set to figure once more.  Striker Mark Uth is suspended.

Matteo Guendouzi will again be missing from the Hertha midfield after suffering a fractured metatarsal against Freiburg and Maximilian Mittelstadt looks likely to miss out with the suspected concussion he sustained on Saturday.
