League: Portuguese Primeira Liga
Boavista vs Portimonense
Pick: Under 2.5 Match Goals

  • Under 2.5 Goals have been scored in six of the last seven Portimonense away Primeira Liga contests.
  • Portimonense have not won in five Primeira League matches.
  • Both teams have scored in only five of Boavista’s 16 home league games to date.

Hosts’ chequered form suggests stalemate in store

A point at the Estadio do Bessa would ensure Portimonense’s top-flight status for another campaign, but Paulo Sergio’s side only avoided defeat on the road six times this season.

The form that saw the Algarveans win three on the bounce in April is now but a memory as back-to-back defeats have put the visitors under added pressure.

Sergio can recall his first-choice right-back for the trip north after Fahd Moufi missed Monday’s 2-1 home loss to Moreirense through suspension.

Worryingly for him, the coach saw his counter-attacking side throw away an early lead and create little for top-scorer Beto, who has now gone four games without a goal.

Boavista have 24 hours less recovery time from their 1-0 defeat at Sporting, which saw Os Leões crowned champions.

Jesualdo Ferreira was forced to make four changes to his side for the trip to the Alvalade with Brazilian midfield duo Gustavo Sauer and Paulinho ruled out while defenders Ricardo Mangas and Chidozie Aawaziem were only fit enough for the bench.

The coach has vowed his 16th-placed team will fight tooth and nail for the win, but backing under 2.5 goals looks more attractive than siding with the hosts.

Boavista have been shut out at home seven times this term and we like the chances of this one finishing without any goals at all.
